Week 28!

Hello third trimester! We’re at the last stretch of the pregnancy and as well as being excited I am also scared! So what’s happening this week?

Know the Facts

Baby is weighing in at 2.25lbs and is around the 40cm mark from head to heel. Baby can blink his/her eyes, which are by now sporting cute little lashes and at some point baby will see the light differences filtering in through the womb. In addition to that, baby is accumulating body fat day by day in preparation for birth. I don’t know if this is coincidence or if baby can see the light flashing in through my womb, but every time I shine a light on my belly baby stops kicking!

In other news

Although it may not seem like a lot is happening, in the momma’s world usually at this point if there already wasn’t ‘a lot’ happening, then it begins around now. Many are completing birth plans, going to antenatal birth classes, baby shopping (my favourite part) and nursery decorating.

Personally, I haven’t completed any kind of birth plan yet nor have I been to any antenatal classes due to the fact that previously I had given birth via c-section (transverse baby) and I am so hoping I will be able to try for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth after Caesarian), however, in order to ‘stabilise’ anything, I’m waiting until the 32nd-34th week in order to see if baby is heads down or not, and from there on to be able to get fully assessed and checked to see if I am a good candidate for a VBAC (I’m pretty confident I am).

Baby shopping wise we have almost EVERYTHING, we planned well ahead and slowly bought everything so it didn’t seem like a ‘major spend’ in one go, even stocking up on nappies on Black Friday! Although to be absolutely honest it does help having a two year old as technically we didn’t start from scratch. However, I still have left to buy a new baby swing and a humidifer so if anyone has any good recommendations PLEASE comment and let me know!

Nursery wise we always knew we wanted two children close together and therefore during the first pregnancy, we had spent major time and effort into making this beautiful gender neutral Jungle Book Nursery, with Mufasa and Simba on a mountain far over, a Toy Story Ceiling with a huge yellow sun, yet when you switch the light off you can stare into a starry night sky. As you can tell I am sooo in love with my son’s baby room! I will be adding a baby name to the wall and I’m thinking of tying some ribbons to the crib to change the look up a little bit and maybe some new curtains too, but we will see. On another note, I still have SO MUCH TO DO around the house, meaning when I was pregnant with Ayan I did a little ‘makeover’ and since then I haven’t done so, I would like to do the same this time round and just have almost another clear out but honestly being super pregnant, having a toddler and a puppy and being a personal trainer is kind of crazy so somehow I never seem to be getting round to doing it and if I am it’s at extremely slow progress, but I will, and when I do, I will be doing a VLOG tour of my home makeover.

Talking about VLOGS , I have a NEW and EXCITING (also super funny) VLOG coming up over the next couple of days, as a little sneak the title is ‘What NOT to say to a pregnant woman.’ So keep posted!

Week 11

After all the excitement happening during week 10, not many new things are happening during week 11 (although let’s admit, there is enough happening already). On a plus side, the nausea may begin fading away (at this point mine definitely didn’t) however (there is always a but), in it’s place you’ll most likely begin suffering from constipation or heartburn say thanks to those pesky hormones! I suffered MAJOR heartburn issues…soon I will be putting up a post on natural remedies to help relieve some of the symptoms.

Catch you on the next blog post where we will be at the END OF FIRST TRIMESTER! Until next time!

Week 10 of pregnancy

Although every week that passes in pregnancy is one to celebrate as it truly is a special journey, week 10 is one that stands out. At this point of the pregnancy, baby has completed the most critical portion of development – meaning the risk of miscarriage significantly lowers and if baby at this point is considered ‘significantly healthy’, chances are that he/she will continue to have a healthy, progressive development throughout the remaining 30 weeks.

From now onwards, the tissues and organs will rapidly start to mature, baby weighs about a quarter of an ounce and is the size of a kumquat, those yummy little orange fruits, although they won’t be staying this small for long, in the upcoming weeks baby will almost double in size. At this point, baby is already kicking, somersaulting all around the playground which is your womb, but these movements are yet to be felt for a long time. As well as this, baby is swallowing fluid and the vital organs -kidneys, brains, intestines and liver are all in place and starting to function.

So how are the mommy’s feeling? Well before we got pregnant, our uterus was roughly the size of a pear, maybe even smaller for first time momma’s, by this week it is already the size of a grapefruit and we’re only a quarter of the way there yet! So yeah, my jeans were feeling pretty uncomfortable already even though you there is no physical sign of pregnancy showing on my body yet. This time round, my breasts didn’t grow as they did with my first pregnancy but growing breasts is also extremely common at this point of pregnancy. On a plus note, the sickness starts wearing, so no more acid damage to our pearly whites, however, in it’s place is the nausea, which only made me wonder, did I prefer throwing up or did I prefer feeling like I was on a rocky boat non-stop, either way as momma’s we don’t really have a choice, so just keep the idea that first trimester is so nearly over to get through the next couple of weeks.

Although I have tried working out throughout the whole pregnancy and I cannot stress enough the importance of doing even the most minimal of workouts during pregnancy, it must be taken into consideration in order to ensure that you are providing your body with the rest it needs and are not exerting yourself, that you listen to your body. During this week, I felt so tired and rough from the nausea that I took a week off from gym and when I could tried to catch an extra hour of sleep here and there (thank you husband) – not to mention that at this point of the pregnancy Ayan was still an all night kind of breastfeeding baby (can it get more tiring than that)

So yeah, thats a brief overview of week 10, first trimester nearly complete, soon onto the craziness of the second 😉

Love, R

Week 9 + Workout

FUN FACT: Baby is the size of a GRAPE

At 9 weeks, baby is now the size of a grape so about 1 inch long. The four little chambers of baby’s heart has now finished forming and it is time to fine tune the valves of the heart. Beneath those mini pink gums the first set of teeth have already formed, can you believe that? Ready for those days of teething after baby is born. The iconic ‘tail’ is now completely gone and baby is looking more and more human by the day, am I the only one who finds the idea of a mini 1 inch human so cute? Two other things which are now fully formed but which will not be able to be seen for a while are baby’s genitals, and also baby’s eyes. Where genitals will only be able to be seen on an ultrasound in about a month and eyes at about the 27 week mark of pregnancy when they are no longer fused shut.

And how are the momma’s feeling? Still not visible to the outside world, you may personally begin to feel some thickening at the waist, this is due to bloating, a growing uterus and even the widening of the hips preparing for that cute little baby. You (or maybe even your loved ones) will be noticing more and more mood swings by this point, blame the hormones, they are definitely responsible for causing all this chaos, however, don’t fear, they should level out at some point at the end of first trimester. Some will still not have made it to the gym yet, this is perfectly normal, I managed to make an entrance twice this week, workouts will be down below. ps. Any funny mood swing stories? Comment or message them to me, I’d love to take a read!

Week 8

Now we’re at 8 weeks, baby is about 2 cm long, although that may not seem very big, remember back to just a few weeks ago when baby was just a ball of cells, now that’s A LOT of growing! It’s not going to stop there, from now onwards, baby will grow about a millimeter PER DAY! That’s not all on the growing part, the amniotic fluid in order to keep up with baby’s rapid growth will increase by about two tablespoons per week.

Now that baby is growing so quickly and has evolved a lot since those first tiny days, baby can now officially be called a foetus (which means offspring), a foetus with an astounding heartbeat of about 160 beats per minute. Whilst that little chamber of love is pumping blood around the body, the lungs are now beginning to form and develop, with the breathing tube extending from the throat to the lungs.

And how about you mummy? How are you feeling? At 8 weeks pregnant you may not be looking pregnant but believer it or not, your uterus is already double the size! At this point your fatigue is maybe worse than ever and you may be feeling more exhausted than you’ve ever felt, don’t be hard on yourself if you’re not getting as much done as  you’d like, it is important to try and rest as much as possible during this period, I mean your body is growing another human and look at how rapidly too, so if possible try and get as much rest as possible. Morning sickness will still be lurking around with no end in sight, I tried nearly every concoction and potion I could try to help ease this, although not one actually cured the sickness, I made a list of the best relievers for the sickness and will be posting this on the blog soon for you guys!

And how about me? Well this week seems as just as much as a blur as all the rest of the ‘first few weeks’. Although technically this pregnancy in itself is ‘easier’ than the first, it seems way harder due to the fact i now have a toddler on my hands, oh and a puppy! So life is a little crazy in the Moldovan household, but thank God for my husband, a true modern day superhero (no joke guys, I wouldn’t have survived the pregnancy without him. Also this week I GOT A NEW CAR. A little surprise from my husband to celebrate the new baby, all because I needed a car that was safe, big enough for two car seats, yet small enough for me to drive around on a daily basis with all my mommy duties. Well, he found the perfect one, a BMW 3 series. When I saw her outside my house, it was love at first sight and I think it was for Ayan too as he refuses to go in his daddy’s car now…oops! And of course as a dedication to my blog, my ongoing projects and my loyal readers, the number plate has a special dedication, take a look down below!

So my next blog post will be my WORKOUT for Week 8 amongst all the chaos, I still tried to go to the gym and fit in a little bit of movement, even if I only managed to go twice, better than nothing huh?

See you soon, O X O

Week 7 + Workout

FRUIT FACT: Baby is the size of a BLUEBERRY

During week 7 whilst now experiencing full blown pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, morning sickness, fatigue, bloating  – baby has since almost doubled in size since last week and is now the size of a blueberry! Crazy right?

This week, baby’s hands and feet are forming from the emerging arms and legs attached to that tiny little body of theirs. The liver is already forming red blood cells – a job which it will do until the bone marrow is formed enough to take over the process. Also in that tiny abdomen area you will find an even teeny tinier appendix and pancreas, if that isn’t enough, baby’s umbilical cord now has it’s own distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to the baby and back. Imagine that, at only the size of a blueberry little baby’s body is already carrying out so many tasks, they are truly tiny little miracles.

This week in contrast to last week I managed to carry out two workouts – below here’s my week 7 workout.
