Finding a comfort zone.

We’ve fast forwarded to 2019 and here I am back again after a literal eternity, on my blog. Untouched, dusty, yet waiting for me. With blog posts only I have written, words that have crossed my mind only and spilled from my fingers onto my keyboard, here my blog, a part of me, waits. Already a few steps behind the fashion, it already needs a re-do, to be fancy and glam and back up to date.

However, today I’m not here to talk about how I’m going to re-do my blog, what I will be posting or what about, I’m sure you’ll find out yourself as the days go by. Today I’m posting about our comfort zones.

A phrase which we’ve been accustomed to dislike and one we’re always being told to leave, to jump out of, something we should leave behind in order to enable us to go further, reach higher and run faster. Do I disagree completely? No. Do I have something to say about this? I always have something to say about everything.

Whilst all or none of the above may be true about comfort zones, whilst you’re reading this on a Monday morning I want you to truly think about what is our comfort zone and why is it called this? Because to me it seems almost like it has been tainted with a black mark. Like we’re almost supposed to hate feeling comfortable with ourselves, such a paradox. When in another way, beings can only achieve great things if they are comfortable in and within themselves.

How can I achieve great things if I’m not constantly in a comfortable zone with myself? Does the phrase ‘comfort zone’ really portray what we think it means? Can we not stay there and also jump higher, reach our goals, the stars and beyond? A comfort is a comfort and yes, of course, if we take this away we are putting ourselves into an agitated state in order to push our minds, bodies and spirits to regain this back. And then what? We’re pushing it further and out the boundary again. A constant push and pull, a discipline which teaches us to take away and then self reward. Whilst in the long term there of course is nothing entirely wrong with this, I have started viewing things in another perspective.

S E L F LOVE. Is an expression in which I have taken great interest in lately and within this I have found a greater and deeper perspective of seeing things, a way of being in which you love who you are enough to want more for yourself. You are so comfortable with yourself it gives you great confidence to go and reach what you think further belongs to you and claim it as yours.

So, on this Monday morning I am pondering the link between self love, comfort zones and where we really need to be in order to reach our goals. What are your thoughts on this?

WordPress on the Weekend.

December to do list.

It’s mid December already, the new year is nearly here, I feel like I’ve done so much already, yet, there’s still so much to do! I definitely have a traditional list of things which naturally has become a habit to complete over the years, I feel like it makes December ‘Christmassy’, spreads amazing energy and fills us with gratitude and love for the rest of the year. Below I’ll list all the things I do before the year ends.

  • Do an act of ‘charity’. Whilst many of us are fortunate, emotionally, physically and financially, it seems to become more obvious the older we get that not everyone is as lucky as us. And whilst we celebrate there are those around us who don’t get the chance. Christmas is about loving and giving so I make it a MUST to give. It doesn’t have to be money necessarily, an extra act of kindness, a hug to those who need it, acts of sincerity, they go a long way.
  • Write Christmas letter with the kids. This is a TOTAL WIN/WIN activity, as writing Christmas letters is definitely a fun activity (the more glitter the better) and at the same time I have it in writing what the kids want from Santa! Clever right?
  • Christmas Markets by night and sweet mulled wine. I’m not an alcohol drinker, nor your typical ‘wine’ kinda woman, however, I just love the Christmas lights on a cold winter evening, the cozy atmosphere, love and laughter found at the heart of a Christmas market with a glass of warm wine in my hands as I enjoy these beautiful evenings.
  • Putting up the Christmas tree, of course everyone does this and it’s one of the most beautiful moments of the month.
  • Reflecting on the year that has just passed. Reflection I find, is my healer and a way of bettering myself. I like to think of the good and maybe not so good things I have done throughout the year, identify them and hope that the good which I have done, to complete and enforce them as much as I can, whilst identifying the bad helps with changing. You can’t change what you’re not aware of right?
  • Writing New Years resolutions. Really not ONE year has passed since I learnt how to write where I didn’t write a New Years Resolution, funny enough for me, my resolutions actually help keep me on track!
  • Christmas shopping, but not to the extreme. I feel honestly, that for a lot of people, Christmas has become more about presents and less about the act of giving. In my family and extended family we love to give presents that are cute, funny, fun to open but not necessarily an emphasis on physical value. Christmas Day is always full of laughter!
  • Celebrating my son’s birthday, my sweet little boy is born just 10 days before Christmas so of course every year it becomes that little bit more eventful organising birthday plans in the month of December.

Anyways, here’s my list for now, let me know how do you like to end your year?

With love, 2019.

It’s been a long year and boy, has a lot happened. 3 years since I faded out from the blog, two babies which are so not babies anymore. A whole lot of love, some downs (welcoming change) and as I’ve just blinked it’s already nearly 2020.

I don’t know how that really happened, but it’s all been a blur, a transition period looking back retrospectively on it, but here we are again with all types of projects, so much to do and so much to tell! I’ll be here again more often, until then for daily updates, catch you on instagram over @ lifeofachocolategirl and see you soon! XOXOX

Cherry Beauty Lounge presents – BTL EXILIS ELITE.

It’s dawned on me recently that I am in fact getting older, I know many will think about my age and then wonder to themselves, what? Older? But let’s face it, going through a few pregnancies, sleepless nights with babies, just a general mama life and all the rest of the worldly chaos (which I love being a part of – really takes a toll on your body. And it is only recently that I’ve started waking up and wondering to myself, ‘wow, I’ve started ageing.’ Not that there is anything wrong with ageing, however, as I’m running around a majority of my time, nursery runs, shopping, baby clubs, lunch dates, shopping again, photoshoots, I want to stay as fresh faced as possible, for as long as possible, in the most natural way possible. So today I explored and did my first ever facial treatment – BTL EXILIS ELITE.

I wanted to write here on the blog a little about it, because honestly, I loved it, non invasive, hydrating and personalised to me, it’s the perfect treatment for a mama on the go and for sanity’s sake it’s great to be a little spoilt every now and again. Most of you have probably never heard about BTL EXILIS ELITE, (I hadn’t, but I am so glad I discovered it!), therefore I thought that in this post I’ll take you a little bit through exactly what this treatment is and what it consists of.

What is BTL EXILIS ELITE? – The BTS EXILIS ELITE is a non invasive face and body contouring device, designed to tighten skin whilst reducing fat and signs of fine lines and wrinkles.

It uses a combination of monopolar radio frequency (RF) energy, ultrasound to stimulate fat lipolysis (the breakdown of fat cells) and collagen remodelling (for skin tightening), alongside skin cooking, helping to contour the body and face.

HOW DOES IT WORK? – The Exilis Elite uses a combination of radiofrequency energy (3.4Mhz up to 120 Watts), ultrasound and skin cooling to deliver controlled heating to target deep tissue, addressing deeper wrinkles, sagging skin, as well as the superficial skin layer, treating finer lines.

The tip of the applicator on the end of the handpiece uses focused thermal (heat) energy to disrupt the collagen fibres deep within the skin. The aim of treatment is to raise the temperature at the skin surface to 40-42°C for 4 or 5 minutes in each area treated to achieve the collagen tightening. This will be felt as a warming sensation (feels like a warm face massage.)

HOW QUICK ARE RESULTS OBTAINED? – Like most non invasive treatments, results differ from person to person, however, on a general note it is recommended 1-2 sessions every 2 weeks, with a visible change within 2-3 months, with the best results being seen at 6 months (where treatment most likely will no longer be needed except for maintenance).

So there you have it, a quick overall idea on what exactly is the BTL EXILIS ELITE treatment, on my next blog post I will write a little further in depth on the steps and process of the treatment, also which serums were used personalised to me. (Keeping it for another day, as it is A LOT to absorb).

Any questions, just ask me! Or message me on my instagram account @lifeofachocolategirl

Further below, I have written this post also in ROMANIAN for my lovely Romanian readers, enjoy! 🙏

Drept urmare astăzi am hotărât sa experimentez primul meu tratament facial numit – BTL EXILIS ELITE.

Acai berry protein smoothie bowl || vegan 🌱|| sugar free ||gluten free ||

 C 37.5g F 4g P 12g Fiber 11.9g – 235 kcal/serving without toppings

Like I promised on my social media, I’ve made for you guys an amazing protein smoothie  bowl recipe. It is sooooo simple and easy to make, but at the same time so creamy and fluffy delicious that after eating it, you may rethink about getting an ice cream. In order to make this deliciousness all you need is a food processor (or a big blender) and a some basic ingredients as following:

  • 1 big frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen mixed berries – I really love raspberries so I used them
  • coconut milk – for a super creamy consistency you can use canned coconut milk, but if you are calorie conscious like me use Alpro Coconut
  • 20 g Organic hemp protein powder
  • 1 tsp Organic acai berry powder – the powders we got from MyProtein

Simple, right?

Next just throw in the ingredients, like the frozen fruit and the powders…and

Simplu nu?

Acum punem toate ingredientele in robot, fructele congelate si prafurile si….

then blitz….and add your coconut to get it going to a smooth consistency (don’t add to much because you will make it to thin and then you will need a straw, which is fine…it will taste just as good 😊)

After it is all well combined into a yummy cream pour it into a bowl, top it with your favourite fruits, nuts and seeds and enjoy a super heathy breakfast, desert, or snack!

Good appetite! Bon appetit! Or as we say over here in Romania…Pofta Buna!

Spaghetti bolognese – vegan 🌱 soy free – gluten free

C 65g F11g P 14g F 10.6g – 412 kcal/serving with the wholewheat pasta

  • 1/2 cub instant supa legume

  • – Barilla spaghetti / gluten free spaghetti for those with intolerance
  • – 2 medium red onions
  • – 2 carrots
  • – 2 sticks of celery
  • – 100 g chestnut mushrooms or wild mushrooms for a stronger flavor
  • – 1 clove of garlic
  • – 1/2 cubed instant vegetable soup
  • – 1 glass of red wine
  • – 1 can of tomatoes
  • – 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
  • – 1/2 hand green parsley
  • – 1 green rosemary stick or 1 teaspoon dried
  • – Green basil for plating
  • – Cold pressed extra virgin olive oil
  • – Salt and pepper to taste

It all begins with preparing the vegetables, mainly cutting them into small cubes, the finer the better. A hack would be getting them through graters, which is not applicable for mushrooms for which the knife must still be used, but do not despair. You don’t need to chop them to fine, as once they shrink  in the skillet, with the loss of water, they lose drastically size.

Put a pot on the big fire and once this is spiking hot, add about 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil, I used grape seed because I ran out of olive oil, then add the trio of chopped vegetables.

Let them cook by stirring occasionally so that they do not stick to the bottom of the pot for about 8-10 minutes, on medium fire.

Meanwhile in a pan, just after it’s hot, add the mushrooms without oil and fry them. In this way we get out of them all the flavour they are able to offer.

Pour about 1 l of boiled water over the instant vegetable cube to make the vegetable stock. If you have a house-made stock, I highly recommend it, this is a quick and useful one for those who have limited amount of time.

After you see that the mushrooms are considerably reduced and caramelised on the bottom of the pan, add a little stock to remove any of the mushrooms that are stuck to the pan (deglazing), then turn off the fire and set them aside.

We turn our attention back to our vegetables which should be well cooked by now and add a tablespoon of tomato paste, the minced garlic and finely chopped rosemary and mix for a few minutes.

After incorporating well these ingredients comes the most beautiful moment. Take that glass of wine and after tasting it to see if it’s good 😁 add it in. Do not worry about alcohol because it will evaporate and everything that remains will be the flavour of a good quality wine. When I cook with wine I always drink a glass and put on some good music to create a pleasant atmosphere.

It is not an absolutely mandatory ingredient, those who do not like it, can exclude it, but do not recommend it because the flavour and taste is great. Once reduced …

Add the canned tomato cubes, then refill it with vegetable soup and add it in.

And for the next half hour, let your simmer over small fire, while you can enjoy that glass of wine, check out social networks, make some pictures or insta stories to show everyone how proud you are of what you have made add the hashtag #lcgfood so I can see your creation too. 👊🏼

Do not relax too much because I forgot pasta 🤦🏽‍♂️

Put in another pot a litre of water for each 100 g of the paste to boil with a teaspoon of salt and just after it get to the boiling point add the spaghetti. You leave it to cook according to the instructions on the package.

After the sauce is substantially reduced add a handful of parsley and if the carrots are still not soft add the rest of the soup and reduce it again.

Booom 💥

When you get to the right consistency, I can congratulate you for having made your first vegan ragu! Booom 💥

Mix spaghetti with ragu sauce and some pasta water, sprinkle a few basil leaves and then stuff your mouth, jokes! We have to eat nicely, chew every mouthful of food, socialise with the family or eat, or at least try! 😂

Good appetite! Bon appetit! Or as we say over here in Romania…Pofta Buna! Enjoy!

And do not forget to share and subscribe because you receive email notifications for each new post, I promise better pictures on the next one!

A love note for Dragobete

Sweet smiles, skipped beats, held hands, heartbeats.

Catch the spark, a work of art, the beauty of her body, a beating heart.

Touch my soul, feel me fly, engulf my whole, you and I.

Taste my essence, touch my skin, feel my presence, reel me in.

Whispered secrets, dreamy gaze, exchanged thoughts, different ways.

Sounds of laughter, tears of pain, sought after, again and again.

Smell my scent, I’ll drown in yours, you’ll hold my heart as I hold yours.

Love is made and felt and seen, this is love, this is real.

Reflecting upon ourselves.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the way in which I want to raise my children, in hindsight my views on child raising have changed tremendously from the time I was pregnant with Ayan to now being a mother of two children. Not only am I a mother of two children but I am blessed to be a mother of a boy and a girl, along with this blessing, I feel comes great responsibility, as the days go by and my beautiful children grow with each passing day, I find myself wondering about the future. Curious about how they will look like, what they will be when they are older, what their favourite subjects at school will be, what will their first boyfriends and girlfriends will look like. Just all the fun and crazy stuff that most mothers think of but will rarely admit to, but  you know me, no filter here, unless it’s on instagram…of course.

My daughter is the closest soul to me since I graced the earth with my presence, I don’t know if it’s our star signs, our personalities or whatever you would like to believe in, but my energy and hers are so in sync and never has a being loved me as much as this little being loves me (I know I’m lucky right). Everywhere I am,  you will find her there too, in my arms, hanging around my legs, playing with my make up, putting her hands in my plate, today she was taking out my fresh washing out the basket onto the floor, as I was trying to put them to dry. And all of a sudden as I was methodically putting the washing to dry her playful presence misted into the distance and thoughts started flying into my head, how will it be when we finally have to separate? Will we suffer? Will she blossom from my branch into her own flower? How will she deal with heartbreak? How will my daughter see herself in the future? How will she present herself to her first boyfriend? How much self esteem will she have? How will she see into her inner self?

You see, I am a mother of only 24 years old, it wasn’t long ago I was a confused teenager, lost, with no guidance, no healthy relationship models in my life, except for the ones which I found myself. I remember the confusion like it was yesterday, the confusion of love and self being, the fogginess of a kiss and not tell the next day, the heartbreaking mist of what it felt like to not know what was wrong with me when a guy treated me bad. As I’ve grown up I’ve slowly, slowly pushed the painful memories to the back of my head, suppressing them as though they never really happened, because at the end of the day, that’s what we are taught to do by the people around us and by civilization right?

It is so rare a woman opens up her wounds after she has haphazardly sewn them in her younger days, why is that? All that leads to is generations upon generations of confused hearts always wondering what’s wrong with them in response to an external consequence.

So lesson one to my babygirl is going to be about those stolen kisses, those kisses with those who love her and also with those who don’t. I came across recently this conversation with a close friend after meeting with a guy she liked, he never called, so she started wondering what was wrong with her. What had she done wrong? Was she not pretty enough? Was she not a good enough kisser? Was her personality miserable?

I said nothing, I merely comforted my friend, yet now I wish I could go back and tell her the things I will proceed to tell my daughter..

If you kiss someone and they don’t call you, then that is no reason to self attack or self judge. It doesn’t mean that something was wrong with you, it is not a reflection of your inadequacies, because my love, you have none, you have differences, some which are accepted and others which are declined by those around you. And that is okay. We don’t have to like everyone around us right? This is the same, if someone doesn’t call you back, whatever the circumstance may be, this is not a reflection of you but a reflection of that person, it is they who is lost in the stormy mess of thoughts with which they cannot be honest with. It is a reflection of their taste and their dislikes and their personal preferences, it is a reflection of how they view the world and you within it…after all, it is THEY who did not get back to you. So love freely my darling, be wild but never ask yourself why someone else left you with unanswered questions, it is ironically, merely a question with which you will have to ask them.
